Parade of Lights, Luminaries, and more!

We will be hosting the neighborhood Parade of Lights this year on Saturday, December 14 at 7:00 pm and you are all invited! If you've never done the Forest Park Parade of Lights before, this is a casual event designed to bring neighbors together to share in some holiday cheer. The idea is to decorate your vehicle with lights, garland, ornaments, Santa, elves, etc., and play some holiday tunes to drive a loop around the neighborhood together. If you don't want to be in the parade, you can also be a spectator for the event as we drive by your house! If you'd like to join in the parade, park in the line up starting at 6:00 pm with your decorated vehicle of choice on E. Jamison Place near the Stivers residence. 6:00-7:00 will be the pre-parade party where we'll be serving chili, snacks, and refreshments to warm you up. Feel free to bring along your favorite snack, treat, or drink to add to the spread, but you don't have to. The parade will kick off at 7:00 pm.

Also, this year we thought it would be fun to add a couple of extra layers to the event. Wouldn't it be pretty to drive around and see luminaries lighting up all of our driveways, sidewalks, porches, etc? They sell kits you can purchase with multiple luminaries on Amazon HERE. You can also probably find them locally at Michael's, Joann's, or Dollar Tree. Or, you can make your own!

The other layer we were thinking of might add some fun competition to the event. We had an idea of having a "Griswold" award for best decorated house in the neighborhood and for the best decorated vehicle in the parade. The prizes will give some serious neighborhood bragging rights to the winners! Everyone in the parade will be able to vote and we can count the votes at the end and announce the winners. The parade will start and end at the Stivers house. We'd love to see you all there!
